Country: Belize.
City: Caye Caulker Currency: 1Euro = 1.9 Belize Dollars Elevation: m / ft Arrival Date: Saturday Jan 11th. City:Punto Gorda I had quite a nice boat trip to Punto Gorda and it was about 3pm when I got there and was ready to get the bus up to Belize City or Placencia if I could in order to get further along the way to maybe diving the Blue Hole! But guess what! there are no busses out of Punto Gorda after 12pm everyday!! Great! So I ended up booking into a little hotel which wasn't too bad actaully for about USD12 I got my own room with a double bed and a TV and shower so I could just relax and sleep well for the night. Before getting some dinner I go a ticket for the early bus to Belize City which I booked at the bus station. There was a bus at 6am that took 8hrs to get to Belize so I booked that one. After a nice sleep and a nice bus ride to Belize City which I had heard a lot of bad things about I hopped in a taxi to the Marine terminal. Unfortunately I didn't have any money but Allen 608-5943 the taxi man (give him a call if you get to Belize City and tell him I sent you) anyway he drove me to an ATM to get money and then dropped me off at the Marine terminal after. He was a really nice guy! So stocked up with my Belize dollars I hopped on the water taxi after buying my return ticket to Caye Caulker for $25 BZ and only waiting about 30mins! They go fairly often all day so that was no problem really!! City:Caye CaulkerIt took about an hour to get there and oh my god it was the most beautiful place ever!!! Even more so then Roatan!! But hat was weird is that the people speak English in Belize which I never knew! It's weird being in central america where the majority speak Spanish and then all of a sudden everyone is speaking English again!! But it's great as well!! I met Masha and Simone on the boat and we all ended up going to the same hostal, Tina's Backpackers Place which was only $15BZ a night for the dorm with a bathroom which was ok but the fact that you walk out your door and you are right on the beach was just amazing!! There was beautiful white sand and clear blue water!! The sun was shining non stop and it was so hot it was baking!! Wow it's great here!! The next holiday you take I suggest you go to Belize and hang out on the Cayes!! They speak English, the people are really nice and friendly and the weather and the scenery is just spectacular!! I couldn't resist going for a swim there and then!! So I did!! then i headed out to dinner with the girls and Andreas, another guy from the hostal. I booked my dives with Forever Young Divers for Sunday morning where I got a deal for three dives in one day including the Blue Hole, The Key Wall and the Aquarium all for $260BZ which wasn't too bad considering Belize is more expensive then Honduras and it included the Blue Hole!!! Before I went to bed at I had to get up at 5.30am I bumped into Trever from England again!! I had dived with him on Roatan!! How funny is that! You meet people everywhere though so I'm not surprised at this stage!! I bet I'll see him again though before the year is out!! Maybe in Japan!! So off I went anyway to bed!! Along with the mice in the roof and the 9 spiders above my head!! I never should have taken my torch out!! hehehee But you know what that's the way it goes in hostals sometimes! you can get spiders, fleas, termites, mice, rats, ants, mosquitos and then making noise you get chickens, cats, dogs, workmen, taxi´s, nightclubs, other travellers etc..etc...So if you can't handle all of the above then travelling like this is not for you I can tell you!! I don't seem to have any problem just going to sleep through all of this which is great! I'm just enjoying it all right now!! hehehee Date: Sunday the 12th, 9pmWell I got up at 5.15am this morning and got myself ready and down to the pier where I met Dan from Canada who was also diving the Blue Hole today! I got to see the most beautiful sunrise while we waited for the dive boat to come and pick us up!! It came eventually and we said hi to everyone else on the boat and then headed off out to sea for out two hour trip out to the dive site!! The boat just bounced along over the waves and no-one was allowed to stand even in case you got hurt!! Man that was painful at times!!
